FOUR FOUNDAMENTAL TENSES

(EMPAT BENTUK DASAR WAKTU)

Didalam bahasa Inggris TENSES (Waktu) itu dapat dikelompokkam menjadi 4 antara lain sebagai berikut :

1. Present Tense :

    a. Simple Present Tense

    b. Present Continous Tense

    c. Present Perfect Tense

    d. Present Perfect Continous Tense

2. Past Tense :

    a. Simple Past Tense

    b. Past Continous Tense

    c. Past Perfect Tense

    d. Past Perfect Continous Tense

3. Future Tense :

    a. Simple Future Tense

    b. Future Continous Tense

    c. Future Perfect Tense

    d. Future Perfect Continous Tense

4. Past Future Tense :

    a. Past Future Tense

    b. Past Future Continous Tense

    c. Past Future Perfect Tense

    d. Past Future Perfect Continous Tense

PRESENT TENSE

a. SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE

Simple Present Tense merupakan suatu kalimat yang menyatakan pekerjaan atau peristiwa yang terjadi pada masa hari ini atau kebiasaan sehari-hari

RUMUS :

SUBJECT   +  TO BE (AM, IS, ARE)   +   OBJECT

SUBJECT   +  VERB. 1   + OBJECT

Contoh kalimat :

1. (+) : We are busy everyday

     (-) : We are not busy everday

     (?) : Are we busy every day?

2. (+) : He goes to school everyday

     (-) : He does not go to school everyday

    (?) : Does he go to school everyday?

3. (+) : He is a teacher in my school

    (-)  : He is not a teacher in my school

    (?)  : Is he a teacher in my school?

4. (+) : They are drink a glass of water

     (-) : They are not drink a glass of water

    (?) : Are they drink a glass of water?

5. (+) : Mr. Andy writes the letter to his friend

    (-)  : Mr. Andy  does not write the letter to his friend

     (?) : Does Mr. Andy write the letter to his friend?

b. PRESENT CONTINOUS TENSE

Merupakan suatu kalimat atau peristiwa yang terjadi pada masa hari ini dan sedang berlaku

RUMUS :

SUBJECT   +  TO BE  (AM, IS, ARE)  + VERB. I  + ING  + OBJECT

Contoh kalimat :

1. (+) : The cat is catching the mouse now

    (-)  : The cat is not catching the mouse now

    (?) : Is the cat catching the mouse now?

2. (+) : Ali and Andy are playing badminton now

     (-) : Ali and Andy are not playing badminton  now

     (?) : Are Ali and Andy playing badminton now?

3. (+) : Henry is fishing in the river now

     (-) : Henry is not fishing in the river now

     (?) : Is Henry fishing in the river now?

4. (+) : Mr. Annas is teaching English now

     (-) : Mr. Annas is not teaching English now

     (?) : Is Mr. Annas teaching English now?

c. PRESENT PERFECT TENSE

Merupakan suatu pekerjaan atau peristiwa yang terjadi pada hari ini dan telah selesai

RUMUS :

SUBJECT   + HAVE/HAS  + BEEN   +   OBJECT

SUBJECT   + HAVE/HAS  + VERB. III + OBJECT

Contoh kalimat :

1. (+) : He has been in Surabaya before

     (-) : He has not been in Surabaya before

     (?) : Has he been in Surabaya before?

2. (+) : We have taken the book just now

     (-) : We have not taken the book just now

     (?) : Have we taken the book just now?

3. (+) : They have written the letter just now

     (-) : They have not written the letter just now

     (?) : Have they written the letter just now?

d. PRESENT PERFECT CONTINOUS TENSE

Merupakan suatu pekerjaan atau peristiwa pada masa lampau sedang berlaku pada masa lampau pula

RUMUS :

SUBJECT  +  HAVE/HAS   + BEEN  +VERB. I  + ING  + OBJECT

Contoh kalimat :

1. (+) : I have been staying here since 1981

     (-) : I have not been staying here since 1981

     (?) : Have I been staying here since 1981?

2. (+) : Elsy has been waiting you for a day

     (-) : Elsy has not been waiting you for a day

    (?) : Has Elsy been waiting you for a day

3. (+) : We have been watching TV the whole night

     (-) : We have not been watching TV the whole night

    (?) : Have we been watching TV the whole night?
